An ancient Illyrian bronze helmet. The Illyrian helmet is characterized by the absence of a nose guard, a quadrangular cut-out for the face, and fixed cheek pieces. This example is of Type IIIA variant 3: raised from a single sheet of bronze, with two raised ridges over the crown and a curved flange neck guard.
Late 6th century or early 5th century BC.
Height: 10 in. (25.4 cm).
Excellent condition.
