Hetitet ose Hititet jane nje popull antik qe fliste nje gjuhe indo-europiane dhe te cilet themeluan nje mbreteri rreth qytetit Hatussa. Kjo mbreteri qendroi ne kembe gjate nje pjese te madhe te mijevjecarit te dyte para Krishtit.

Mbreteria hitite perfshinte Anatoline qendrore, veriperendimin e Sirise deri ne Ugarit dhe Mesopotamine deri ne Babiloni, ekzistoi perafersisht ndermjet viteve 1680 dhe 1200 p.K. me nje nderprerje ndermjet viteve 1500 dhe 1400 p.K.
Ne kohen rreth vitit 1200 p.K. pjesa me e madhe e zones se Mesdheut lindor u perfshi nga nje katastrofe e madhe.
Ngaqe shume qytete u shkrumbuan, kjo kohe u quajt dhe si koha e katastrofes se zjarrit.

Ne epoken e hekurit, qe pasoi, shenoi dhe rrenimin e mbreterise hitite, duke u shperbere ne disa qytetshtete te pavarura, nje pjese e te cilave mbijetoi deri ne vitin 700 p.K.

Nje teze e nje studjuesi australian e ka cilesuar mbreterine hitite si berthamen e te gjithe qyteterimit te mevonshem dhe si berthamen e familjes gjuhesore indo-europiane.

Answer: Without written traditions the assignment to ethnical groups is very difficult. For a statistically significant anthropological analysis the number of skeletal finds from Troia is much too small. Spatial comparisons of the relicts of civilization (architecture, ceramic) can be used only in a limited way for ethnical associations because they may be dominated by the trends of a more mobile upper class (not all "migrations of people" are relocations of a complete population). This leaves the results of comparative linguistics. These associate the inhabitants of the Troad with the Luwian language family, which lived in the west of Asia Minor as Indoeuropean relatives of the Hittites.
