"The Adventures of Ulysses" is a 1974 feature-length abridgement of the 8-part Italian TV miniseries The Odyssey. In super-spectacular fashion, the project endeavors to cover virtually everything in the Homer original, with a few dramatic grace notes added along the way. Yugoslav heartthrob Bekim Fehmiu stars as Ulysses. The huge supporting cast is headed by Irene Papas as Penelope and Marina Berti as Arete. Never released theatrically in the US, The Adventures of Ulysses was first seen in America as the July 7, 1978

As a story, the Odyssey is an unparalleled metaphor of the struggles of a man's life. The cast is brilliant and international here. Irene Papas gives us a typical Greek tragedy style performance as Penelope, but most amazing is the Albanian actor Bekim Fehmiu as Ulysses. Really good looking and totally convincing, it seems the role was really made for him. Strange that he was never offered roles of this dimension afterwards. Also playing Nausicaa is Barbara Bach (as Barbara Gregorini) later famous as the James Bond girl in "The Spy Who Loved Me", and playing Athena is Michele Breton, who was otherwise noted in the strange movie called "Performance" with Mick Jagger.

Shikoni se ju bera lemsh. Nuk e dija qe Irene Papas, Irini/Eirene Pappas, apo Irene Lelekou kishte luajtur dy filma me te njejtin titull, THE ODYSSEY, dhe ne te dyja luante role te ndryshme. Kisha nder mend filmin me Armand Assante qe eshte bere kete dekaden e fundit, dhe qe mund ta kem pare nja 5 here; aty luante Antikleien, te jemen e Odisese. Kurse te filmi me Bekim Fehmiun, luajti Penelopen (por nuk eshte ajo ne cover me Bekimin, se vete eshte syzeze e eger). Thashe qe Penelopen e luante nje Greta something (Scacchi), qe ishte first clue qe po flisja per film tjeter. Mu ngulit ky film ne koke se Humie e ka shume qejf Greta Scacchin He thinks she's all that and a bag of chips.

Waiting loyally for him at home are his mother, Anticlea (Irene Papas); his wife, Penelope (Greta Scacchi), and his son, Telemachus (Alan Stenson), only an infant when Odysseus first sets sail."
