John Lennon vdiq para 25 vjetësh, duke lënë një trashëgimi të qëndrueshme muzikore pas suksesit me grupin The Beatles dhe si artist solo.

I lindur në Liverpul më 9 tetor 1940, John Lennon filloi ta pëlqejë muzikën “rock and roll” në vitet 1950 dhe formoi grupin The Quarrymen.

The Quarrymen mori emrin The Silver Beatles, për t’u quajtur më vonë The Beatles. Në këtë grup ishte, fillimisht, edhe shoku i kolegjit të Lennon-it, Stuart Sutcliffe (në qendër të kësaj fotoje).

Në vitin 1962 grupi u plotësua. Katër Përrallorët – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr dhe George Harrison – kishin marrë rrugën për t’u bërë ikona të muzikës pop.

Fama e grupit The Beatles doli nga Mbretëria e Bashkuar dhe u përhap në botë pas paraqitjes në vitin 1964 në televizionin amerikan në shfaqjen e Ed Sullivan.

John Lennon u martua në vitin 1962 me shoqen e shkollës së artit, Cynthia Powell me të cilën pati një djalë me emrin Julian. Kjo martesë përfundoi me divorc në vitin 1968.

Grupi The Beatles kaloi nga muzika rock dhe pop në atë folk dhe psikodeli, teksa pjesëtarët e grupit filluan të eksperimentojnë me projekte solo.
