POPE: TWO NEW ITALIAN BISHOPS IN ALBANIA
(AGI) - Vatican City, Nov. 23 - Father Ottavio Vitale and Father Cristoforo Palmieri are the new bishops of Lezhe and Rreshen in Albania. Benedict XVI nominated them today. Born in Grottaglie (Taranto) 46 years ago, father Vitale entered the Congregation of the Rogationists in 1983. In 1993, he was sent to Albania as the person in charge, as well as spiritual father, of the Minor Seminary of Shenkoll (Lezhe). In 1998 he was nominated Diocese administrator of Lezhe. Father Cristoforo Palmieri, also of Apulia, was born in Bitonto (Bari) May 24,1939. In the Congregation of the Mission, he has been parish priest in Naples, Nicastro (Calabria) and Lecce. In 1993 he was sent to Albania to open the Lazarist mission. (AGI) -
