Kompania "Open Source Risk Management" ka studjuar Linux dhe javën që shkoi tha se Linux ka shkelur rreth 283 patenta që mbahen nga kompanitë e tjera si CISCO, INTEL, NOVELL, ORACLE, IBM, si dhe MICROSOFT.

Shkelja e patentave e vë LINUX në rrezik për çështje gjyqësore që mund të ngadalësojnë vrullin që ka marrë gjatë viteve të fundit.

Deri tani IBM ka deklaruar se nuk do ta hedhë LINUX në gjyq dhe kërkoi që dhe kompanitë e tjera të bënin të njëjtën gjë. Siç dihet mirë, IBM, HP dhe shumë kompani të tjera kanë hedhur hapa të rëndësishëm me LINUX dhe nuk duan t'u prishen planet.

Microsoft ka të drejtën e 27 patentave që janë shkelur nga LINUX dhe tani ka mundësinë ta hedhë në gjyq pasi Linux mund të konkurrojë së shpejti me Windows edhe në tregun profesional dhe atë shtëpijak.

Përveç IBM, asnjë nga kompanitë e tjera nuk ka folur në lidhje me këtë çështje. Të shomë si do venë punët.

Kjo shkelja e patentave eshte pak ceshtje e ekzagjeruar, se psh po lexoja dje nje artikull qe krahasonte Microsoft me Linux, aty thuhej se Windows paska patenten per Taskbar. Tash, te kete dikush patenten per taskbar eshte nje gje shume e keqe, sepse kjo dmth se ajo kompani mund te padise dike per gjera triviale, qe nuk jane zbulim i saj. Taskbar nuk eshte zbulim i saj, ashtu sic nuk eshte as shumica e atyre per te cilat akuzohet Linuxi. Si dhe nuk mund te jete ndertuar Linuxi ne kod te Microsoftit, se atehere dyjat do te punonin njejte apo ngjajshem. Dikush qe ka perdor Linux dhe Windows e di diferencen e MADHE ne punen e sistemit mes ketyre dyjave.

Krijuesi i Linux, Linus Torvald vete ka thene se sistemi i tij eshte pjeserisht i bazuar ne Minix, nje sistem i njohur pak, me te cilin mirreshin kryesisht profesionistet e asaj kohe (rreth 1992). Pastaj Novell eshte bere pronar i SuSE Linux A.G. Si mund ta hedh Novelli veten ne gjygj?

Puna eshte qe, Microsoft nuk ka asgje ne dore se po te kishte dic, do te bente si me Lindows, do ta hidhte ne gjygj per nje gje triviale si emri. Windows nuk eshte emer qe Mcrosoft Inc. e ka zbuluar, Windows eshte emer qe perfaqeson faqet e hapura ne sistemin Windows. Po faqe te tilla ka ne cdo sistem, ka pas edhe ne Macintosh, shume kohe para se te dilte Microsoft Windows, keshtuqe, me ke po mendon Microsoft se eshte duke vallezuar?

Nuk kane asgje ne dore, pos grupeve te vogla te interesxhinjve te cileve ju pagujne pare te majme (si rasti i atij grupit qe pretendonte se Linux eshte %40 me i shtrenjte se Windows), per te eliminuar konkurrencen dhe per te mbajtur ne fuqi monopolin qe kane.

Ne fakt, kjo qe ekziston ne kete moment mundet te quhet Oligopoly, ku disa kompani kane tregun ne dore, dhe ku barrierat per hyrje ne treg jane shume te forta. Nje nga to, sigurisht eshte vete Microsoft, tjerat jane ligjore dhe ekonomike.

Edhe pak edhe Microsoft do behet si SCO... gjithe diten gjyqeve pa asnje rezultat dhe vetem me humbje. Linux is coming big way.

Patentat mund te jene te ekzagjeruara por ne te njejten kohe i shtyjne njerezit qe te vrasin mendjen dhe te shpikin funksione te reja. Ligji nuk mbron ate qe e ka zbuluar, por ate qe ka aplikuar per patente i pari. Miu,dritaret, butonat etj, jane shpikur ne vitet 70 nga Xerox qe ne ate kohe nuk e pa te nevojshme te aplikonte per patente. Kjo eshte nje nga gabimet me te medha ne historine e kompjuterit se po te kishte bere XEROX patente, do ishte tani edhe me i madh se Microsoft.

Nga ato sa kam lexuar, studimi ka analizuar Linux ne brendesi dhe jo siperfaqen (interface).
Fakti qe microsoft nuk e ka hedhur ne gjyq deri tani, nuk do te thote se nuk mund ta hedh ne te ardhmen, kur linux te jete me fitimprures.

BBC News reports ("Holes found in Windows XP update") that mere hours after key Windows XP update SP2 became available to home users, security experts have managed to find ways around it.

The SP2 update makes XP less attractive to virus writers and malicious hackers by plugging widely exploited loopholes.

But discoveries by security firms Secunia and German company Heise show that some holes have been left open.

Microsoft said it was investigating one of the new bugs but said no users had been caught out by this loophole.

The bug Microsoft is looking into lets malicious programs hide as images that automatically install and then run when Windows is re-started.

Microsoft only put the SP2 security patch for the Home edition of Windows XP on its auto-update servers this week.

SP2 provides a single place for people to control anti-virus software, firewall and XP updates as well as blocking pop-up ads, some spyware and warning about the dangers of e-mail attachments.

The update also tweaks XP to make it less vulnerable to the bugs exploited by viruses and other malicious programs.

But security expert Secunia has posted information about a bug in Internet Explorer that could, it says, let a malicious website "plant an arbitrary executable file in a user's start-up folder".

When an infected system is re-booted, the planted program will run.

The bug works on systems patched with SP2.

The loophole, which strikes when files are dragged and dropped from the net on to a local zone, was found by an ethical hacker who goes by the handle of http-equiv.

A demonstration of the bug has been posted on the Malware website.

"Given the significant amount of user action required to execute an attack, Microsoft does not consider this to be a high risk for customers," said Paul Randle, head of all things XP at Microsoft UK.

But he added that Microsoft was investigating to see what action needed to be taken to deal with the bug.

Tricking Windows

Other problems with SP2 were discovered by German security firm Heise, which published information about two of them.

Heise found that the system SP2 introduces to warn users about the dangers of running untrusted files downloaded from the net can be subverted.

The company found a way to trick Windows into running net-downloaded files without warning users about what was happening.

When Heise asked Microsoft about the bugs, the software giant said it did not think that it needed to produce patches or workarounds to tackle them.

The vulnerabilities discovered have are not being exploited in the wild and have only been demonstrated as working in ideal circumstances.

However, Microsoft has produced a so-called hotfix for SP2 to help tackle a problem some people are having with programs that use particular net addresses.

Linux se pari do nje pc me vete.Edhe un mendoj se linux nuk eshte i `rehatshem` per tu perdorur ne shtepi. dhe ndryshon shume ndaj windous dhe nuk eshte aq i leht per administruar , pamvarsisht nga versionet qe ka dalur.Linux per mu eshte only for bussines. dhe do profesionista per ta perdorur.Per mendimin tim linux-in duhet ta instalosh vetem per pune dhe jo per ne shtepi qe te zevendesoh windousin qe ke ne pc.

Un jam 14 vjec dhe nuk kam krijuar nje idete komplet te qarte per Linux , por kam vullnet dhe besoj shume se do ta mesoj nje dite me sy mbyll dhe do ta instaloj !

Cfare mendoni per kete sistem operimi? Une vete e kam perdorur shume pak, per te mos thene aspak dhe nuk me ka pelqyer. Nga c'kam degjuar prej shume specialisteve ky sistem operimi ka dale me shume gabime dhe jo funksionant si duhet. Me shume njerez preferojne te perdorin windows 2000 (si une psh) ose Windows 98. Windows XP nuk me ka pelqyer asnjeher vetem per arsye te grafikes. Me duket se eshte shume per end users. Windows 2000 Pro dhe Server per mendimin tim jane shume te mire dhe shume te qendrueshem (stable). Edhe windows 2003 eshte shume

Mua më pëlqen shumë Windows Server 2003. E kam të instaluar krahas XP SP2. Më duket se SP2 e ka ngadalësuar edhe kompjuterin edhe surfimin në internet. Duket se është stërngarkuar. Se që Windows 2000 është më i mirë kjo s'ka dyshim por XP dhe 2003 i kam zgjedhur më tepër për pamjen shumë të bukur ku dominon ngjyra e kaltër. Ka shumë opcione dhe mundësi shtesë që s'i ka Windows 2000 e pa të cilat nuk po mundem të kthehem në 2000.

Gjithashtu mendoj se për ata që janë mësuar të punojnë disa vjet me radhë me Windows është shumë e vështirë të kalohet në Linux apo ndonjë sistem tjetër operativ. E kam parë Red Hat Linux. Ishte shumë i lezetshëm. Por unë e shikoja nga këndi i një sehirxhiu. Tash e paramendoj unë të punoj punët e mia profesionale dhe vetë argëtimin që e kam në gjak në kompjuter (përkatësisht në Windows) e atëherë do të më mërzitej Linux-i menjëherë.
