Ferguson condemns Blatter remarks!

Ferguson shares Blatter's concerns about multi-club ownership
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told Sepp Blatter to concentrate on more important issues than Wayne Rooney's behaviour.
The Fifa president told BBC Five Live that Ferguson and England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson should get tough on the 19-year-old striker.

• But Ferguson responded: "Fifa is quite happy to take up smaller issues, like a 19-year-old Manchester United player.
• "It should pursue the really important issues in the game."

Blatter's comments came after Rooney had an on-field argument with England captain David Beckham during the game against Northern Ireland.

The teenager was then sent off for sarcastically applauding the referee in a Champions League match against Villarreal.

"His managers should be tough on him. He could go on for 15 years but discipline and respect is essential."

Earlier this week, Blatter also hit out at Premiership clubs for fielding weakened teams.

The Fifa chief said he had been told by an official at West Bromwich the club deliberately named under-strength sides against the top Premiership clubs.

This comes in the wake of West Brom's league game against Chelsea, which they lost 4-0 after making five changes from the team that had beaten Porstmouth four days earlier.

• But a spokesman for the midlands club said: "We are astonished and totally mystified by Mr Blatter's remarks!

"We can categorically state that no Albion official has spoken to Mr Blatter this year - let alone in the past month.

"We also utterly refute what Mr Blatter suggests. The management of the club field what they consider to be their strongest available side for every game - and will continue to do so."

West Brom face Arsenal on Saturday and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger insisted suggestions they would field a "B-string" team were not an issue.

• Wenger described Blatter's comments as "sense of humour night" and added: "I don't think Sepp Blatter has a point with this one."
