Hulio Baptisa, i cili ka qenë i dëmtuar, pritet të jetë në ndeshjen kundër Barcelonës. Braziliani ka deklaruar se periudhën e dëmtimit e ka kaluar më shumë afër familjes dhe mendon se tani është gati për të luajtur të shtunën.

- Kur mendoni se do të luani në sfidën Real-Barcelona?

La Liga Preview: Real Madrid-Barcelona

There are many massive fixtures that take place the world over each season: Milan versus Inter, Boca Juniors against River Plate, Manchester United v Liverpool etc. However, for many football aficionados, there is no bigger game on the planet than Real Madrid versus Barcelona and on Saturday evening, these two giants of Spanish football will do battle at Real’s historic Santiago Bernabéu stadium in a game that means so much more than just three points.

BACKGROUND

In a week that saw a Spanish drought finally ending with days of pouring rain, snow on high ground and very cold temperatures, images in the media of Brazilians taking a soaking and Spaniards running about in hats and gloves abound. For both Real Madrid and Barcelona it has been an extremely difficult period to prepare both mentally and physically for the biggest game of their season so far.

While the players have been getting to grips with the weather, the media build-up for the game has been intense. Two stories in particular have hogged the daily television newscasts and, indeed, the sporting press. The first concerned the ‘will he play, won’t he play’ status of Real Madrid’s key attacker, Ronaldo. At the beginning of the week it was suggested that Wanderli Luxemburgo was taking a cautious stance stating that his compatriot would not be risked for this game should his condition be less than 100percent. However, pictures of the player in full training seemed to prove to everybody else that Ronaldo would indeed play at least some part in Saturday’s match and as the week has progressed, it now appears he will start against his former employers.

The other story concerns one Samuel Eto’o. Footage of the Cameroon international re-emerged this week in which his celebrations of Barcelona’s title win last season did little to impress the club’s capital rivals. Hands raised aloft, Eto’o can be clearly seen walking towards the ecstatic Catalan fans mouthing a popular, if rather vulgar, chant that states, in cleaner terms, "Madrid, salute the champions."

The fact that Eto’o had such intent on his face and that he repeated the chant over and over again so riled the Real Madrid support that his appearance in the Bernabèu on Saturday, it has been suggested, will draw a similar response from the fans to that which Luis Figo received at the Nou Camp several seasons ago. Then, Figo, a former Barcelona player, took to the field in the all white of Real Madrid to deafening screams, jeers and even the head of a pig.

Stirring up emotions even further, Real Madrid’s Ivan Helguera noted at a midweek press conference, "Of course he (Eto’o) is going to be booed and whistled from start to finish on Saturday and not just because he is Samuel Eto’o, but because of his comments at the end of last season. If any other player had behaved in the same way they could expect a similar reaction on Saturday." Helguera insisted, though, that the abuse will remain verbal and that "there will be no dead pigs flying down from the stands onto the pitch here."


CURRENT FORM:

Real Madrid: It has been an extremely tricky period for los merengues, however, they have displayed strong character while chalking up successful results without their big named players. The football has been far from pretty, particularly in the recent 1-0 win over Real Zaragoza and the previous triumphs over Rosenborg and Real Betis. With the return of Ronaldo, Zidane et al to the front lines this week, however, home support will expect a stylish win over their Catalan rivals. Real are currently sitting in third position in the league standings with 21 points.

Barcelona: The Catalan giants are oozing confidence and class and are playing some scintillating football. If the truth were to be told by those connected with Real Madrid, this fixture is coming at a slightly worrying time. Barcelona’s fluid attacking style has sharply contrasted with the stuttering displays performed by the men from Madrid. A domestic four game winning spree has produced 13 goals, and with a 5-0 triumph over Panathinaikos in the Champions League sandwiched in-between, Barcelona are, on current form, arguably the best team in Europe at the moment. Frank Rijkaard’s side are second in the league with 22 points.


TEAM NEWS:

Real Madrid: A sense of relief all ‘round for Madridistas as it appears the big boys will be back to battle Barcelona. Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane should make their way into the starting XI along with Ivan Helguera and Sergio Ramos, although having all been several weeks out of action, it’s anyone’s guess how they will react to returning for such a huge clash. Julio Baptista is back to full fitness but may have to settle for a place on the bench while David Beckham has played down a back problem and has stated he will be fit to face Barcelona.

Barcelona: It had been suggested that Barça coach Frank Rijkaard was waiting to see whether Ronaldo would play before deciding on his defensive four. As it now appears the Brazilian hitman will start, expect Rijkaard to pull Rafael Marquez back into central defence to accompany Carles Puyol. Xabi Hernández would thus move in from the right to central midfield area with Thiago Motta sitting in the hole between defence and midfield. The usual suspects of Ronaldinho, Ludovic Giuly, and Samuel Eto’o will be the attacking force for the visitors.


WATCH OUT FOR:

Real Madrid: Who else but Ronaldo. Zidane, Beckham and Raúl will be at the centre of all things creative for the hosts, but when it comes to the fireworks, expect the Brazilian to explode into life following an injury layoff.

Barcelona: If Barcelona are to break Real hearts, you can guarantee that Ronaldinho will have had a massive part to play. A genius on the ball, the Barça playmaker is frighteningly fast, can pick out a teammate blindfolded and is a magician from set pieces.

Real Madrid: Casillas, Salgado, Roberto Carlos, Sergio Ramos, Helguera, Beckham, Guti, Zidane, Raúl, Ronaldo, Robinho.

Barcelona: Valdés, Sylvinho, Oleguer, Márquez, Puyol, Motta, Xabi, Deco, Giuly, Ronaldinho, Eto’o.


PREDICTION:

As seems to be the case with most colossal confrontations, this game could either fail to live up to the hype and produce a drab scoreless draw, or it could deliver a classic battle between two huge rivals whose players will sweat blood out on the pitch. Goal.com prefers to believe in the latter scenario and says that this will be one of the most fiercely contested games to take place between these two teams in decades.
