Podolski Denies Bayern Deal

Köln striker Lukas Podolski has denied rumours that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Speaking on his club's official site, the German international striker said: "There is no pre-contract of any sort with Bayern. The first club I will be talking to is and always has been Köln. I have not been involved in any negotiations whatsoever with Bayern. It's not my fault that my future is the subject of so much speculation."

The 20-year-old is the most coveted talent in the German game and has a deal with his home-town club until 2008. German media reports suggest that the player is likely to move to Bayern or Hamburger SV in the summer. However, Podolski claims that he is committed to keeping Köln in the top-flight. "I am fully concentrated on my season with Köln and our fight to avoid relegation."

Köln are currently rooted in the relegation zone after a 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
