She finds the words heavy, weighing on her mind. But she finally dares to speak them. "I will glady pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." Is it simply the begging of a hungry, corpulent Wimpy, pleading to Popeye for a ground beef advance? Or is it a longing of the soul -- a cry for relish (and just a touch of onion) to penetrate her heart -- a desire in vain to return to a time when
those you love shared their big-beef value family packs from Cub Foods and even put an extra slice of cheese on the flame broiled goodness without even asking. Who knows from whence Wimpy queries? For it is so with us all. We ask, but we don't always know what for. We wish, but are often, unknowingly, sated in
the unfullfillment. Is it simply the hamburger on loan that we all
seek or is it a deeper, more profound place we need touched by no one but ourselves? That question can only be answered by the wise man behind the counter at McDonalds who, even as the Oxy-10 dries on his face, simply says, "Would you like fries with that?" Yes, quite true indeed.

we knowers are unkown to ourselves and for a good reason: how can we ever hope to find what we have never looked for? "Each man is farthest from himself" will hold for us to all eternity.

Ekzistencialism?
Si dora e Nices (Nietzsche) me duket ajo me lart mua. (??)
"Each man is farthest from himself". Indeed that couldn't be more true. Of all the knowledge we seek, the hardest to achieve is self-knowledge.
