Ai eshte nje kopshtar (Gardener) qe nuk di asgje per boten, absolutisht asgje. E vetmja lidhje me boten reale eshte TV dhe kur vdes pronari i shtepise ai duhet te dale nga shtepia. Rruges ndodh nje incident dhe papritur Chance behet pjestar i nje familje politikani me ndikim. Ky prezentohet si Chance, the Gardener, por njerezit e kekuptojne dhe e quajne Chauncey Gardiner....si pasoje cdo gje rrjedh me keqkuptime dhe dalin situata shume komike....
