According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper (October 2, 2004), the OPEC Fund for International Development signed an agreement with the Fushe Kruja Cement Factory Sh.p.k. in Albania, based on which the Fund lends $8 million to the factory, which plans on expanding and modernizing its production plant. This loan represents the OPEC Fund's first operation in the Albanian private sector, although the Fund has approved five public sector loans in support of projects in the health, education, agriculture and transportation sectors. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Fushe Kruja Cement Factory Sh.p.k. by Mr. Sadi Dahdale, General Manager and Administrator, and by H.E. Mr. Jamal Nasser Lootah, Chairman of the Governing Board of the OPEC Fund.
