Kur shof se ne vend te Nomar,pra SS do luajne tipa si ku Gutierez apo Cabrera,fitimi i nje World Series me duket enderr qe do mbaroje me Gushtin ne mos ka mbaruar fare...........

Players sad to see Nomar to go.



MINNEAPOLIS -- When news of Nomar Garciaparra's trade to the Cubs quickly spread throughout the Red Sox clubhouse, the immediate reaction wasn't centered on how it would impact the team's World Series hopes. Instead, the players were thinking about the effect it would have on the rabid baseball community that is Boston. They were also thinking about the happiness of a man who had suddenly become their former teammate.
Garciaparra, whose first name - Nomah -- rolled so smoothly off the tongues of Bostonians, was more than just a player in Boston. To the Fenway Faithful, who supported him almost unwaveringly since his rookie year of 1997, he was an institution.

"For some reason, I just feel like Nomar's part of the tradition in Boston," said Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez, who had shared a locker room with Garciaparra since 1998. "It's just in me. I'm so used to seeing 'Nomah!' and hearing the people go, 'Nomah! and No. 5 all over everybody's back. For some reason, I just ... framed him as a Bostonian, as part of the team. I think a lot of people are going to be sad in Boston."

Some of them wear Red Sox uniforms.

"We just traded away Mr. Boston, a guy who meant so much to the city and just like that he's gone," said Red Sox center fielder Johnny Damon. "It's a sad day for a lot of the fans back there. We don't know if it's better if it happened now or during the offseason, but we're going to miss him. We're going to miss that great swing, the great player. We wish him the best."

One of the reasons Manny Ramirez was so excited about coming to Boston prior to the 2001 season was to play with a player with Garciaparra's skills.

"I think he's the best player I've ever seen," said Ramirez. "He's going to be awesome out there."

Some players were able to look at the deal more philosophically.

"You're surprised, obviously. But I don't think it was unexpected," said Red Sox right-hander Curt Schilling. "Obviously, the three guys they brought in here, all three are very good to well above average defensive players. So they're addressing a concern."

Aside from the two Gold Glove winners (Doug Mientkiewicz and Orlando Cabrera) who were acquired for Garciaparra, the Sox got speedy outfielder Dave Roberts from the Dodgers in a separate transaction.

"I played with Cabrera for one year," said Martinez, a former Expo. "At the time he was young. He was becoming where he is right now. He's a pretty good steady shortstop. He's gotten a lot better over the years."

Martinez just wanted to wish his friend well. For years, Martinez and Garciaparra have carried a big part of the burden on the Red Sox.

"I didn't think it would happen. But if he's going to be happy, I'm happy for him," said Martinez. "If it's going to work out OK for the team, it's going to be OK. It's always sad to see a guy, a superstar, a gentleman, leave like that. Especially knowing that me and him and [Tim Wakefield] were probably the last old goats to survive. I'm kind of sad for him and I imagine he's a little sad. I've been with him long enough to understand he's a little sad.

"I just asked him if he was going to be happy, and that's all that matters. I told him I would keep in touch and he said he would keep in touch. That's pretty much it. I wish him well, I really do. Nomar's a great teammate and a great person, a great human being."

As for how the move will impact the Red Sox?

"I have no idea. I have to see them play," Martinez said. "But without a doubt, I know what Nomar can do."
