Hulumtimi i opinionit, i realizuar nga Reuters/Zogby, që është publikuar ditën e djeshme, bëri të ditur se Bush i Riu udhëheq 46 për qind ndaj 44 për qind që ka fituar Kerri. Analistët kanë shpjeguar se ky dhe rezultatet e tjera të hulumtimeve të opinionit, tregojnë se në zgjedhjet presidenciale të Shteteve të Bashkuara që do të zhvillohen më 2 nëntor, pritet një garë tejet e ngushtë ndërmjet presidentit George Bush dhe kandidatit demokrat për këtë post, John Kerry. Ndërkohë ndaj dy rivalëve nuk kanë munguar kritikat dhe mbështetja. Tajmsi kritikon edhe politikat e brendshme dhe të jashtme të presidentit. Të dy kandidatët vazhduan dje fushatën elektorale. Presidenti Bush ishte në shtetin kyç të Floridës, ku ai kritikoi rivalin e tij demokrat, Xhon Kerri, duke thënë se ai po përpiqet të ngjallë frikën e rifillimit të shërbimit të detyrueshëm ushtarak. Senatori Kerri zhvilloi fushatë dje në Ohajo, ku fajësoi presidentin Bush për mungesa në vaksinat kundër gripit në Shtetet e Bashkuara. Fushata e tij nxori në qarkullim edhe një reklamë të re për këtë çështje.

HE called Americans 'ignorant' and their president a 'liar'.

And he predicted that the 'ignorant' lot will re-elect Mr George Bush in next month's presidential election.

Rather strong words.

But that's Malaysia's former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for you.

In an interview in The Star published today, he lashed out at the US and its presidential candidates.

He said both Mr Bush and his Democratic rival, Mr John Kerry, were 'in total denial' about the root causes of terrorism.

'The main thing is to win the election. And if you annoy the Jewish group which is a very strong integrated group, then you are going to lose the election.

'If you mention Palestine as the root cause, you will lose the election. So neither Kerry nor Bush will mention Palestine,' he said.

He had harsh words for the US electorate. 'Surprisingly, the electorate appears to be willing to accept a person who told a blatant lie and to elect a liar as their president.

'I think this augurs badly for the world as the US is a world power,' said Dr Mahathir.

'The American people are, by and large, very ignorant and know nothing about the rest of the world. They think that America is the world.

'Yet, they are the people who will decide who will be the most powerful man in the world. They are not looking at the outside world, only looking at themselves,' he said, adding that he thinks Mr Bush will win the Nov 2 election.

He did not spare two of Mr Bush's strong allies either.

'They will accept a liar. They will accept Blair (British PM), and I am sure they will accept Bush. They have already accepted Howard (Australian PM) who told a blatant lie,' he said, without elaborating.

Dr Mahathir also spoke on the economy of his country. He said it was up to the present Malaysian government to evaluate the Ringgit-US dollar peg and decide whether to change it.

He said the country was doing well, yet 'there were some people who felt that if the ringgit was RM2.50 ($1.10) instead of RM3.80 to the dollar, they could enjoy themselves in London better. But how many people?'

He added that most people in Malaysia do not feel hurt by the exchange rate because 'they do not travel'.

He felt business people found it easier to do business because of the peg.

Dr Mahathir also criticised the policy of giving out too many datukships.

He said that if one wants to give value to anything, it must be limited.

'It's like a limited edition Ferrari. If you produce a million Ferrari cars, nobody will care about buying a Ferrari.

'Before, if you threw a stone, you hit one datuk. Now, you throw a stone, you hit two datuks,' he laughed.

Kerry ka zgjedhur nje linje te pasigurte ne ceshtjen e luftes. Ne vend qe te perseriste here pas here qe vendimi per te shkuar ne lufte ka qene i gabuar, pra te qante te kaluaren, do te ishte me mire qe te merrej me idete qe ka per te ardhmen ne Irak.
Dhe nqs donte te mundte karaBushat e Cheney-t, duhej te thonte qe vendimi per te shkuar ne lufte ISHTE i gabuar por qe ai do te perdore dore te hekurt per ta zgjidhur ceshtjen ne Irak sa me shpejt dhe efektivisht, pra te zgjidhte lemshin ne te cilin Bushi e futi Ameriken dhe te siguronte qe nepermjet aleancave globale ai lemsh mos te ndodhte me.
Sepse i vetmi virtyt ne te cilin Bushi bazon forcat e veta esht vendosmeria e palekundur per "luften kunder terrorit".
