Roberto Carlos has fired a broadside at Real Madrid for treating him as a product as the Brazilian full back edges nearer towards a summer departure.
The marauding defender's future at El Santiago Bernabeu is becoming increasingly shaky, with reports persisting he is set to join Chelsea.
The moneybags Premiership side are looking to take advantage of the current upheaval in Madrid and are purportedly bidding to bring Roberto Carlos to Stamford Bridge.
The World Cup winner has previously been keen to stay in the Spanish capital and extend his contract with the dethroned Liga champions.
He has 12 months remaining on his present deal and is chasing a four-year extension while Real have only been willing to offer the left back a two-year contract.
The impasse has left Roberto Carlos feeling frustrated and he feels he is being treated like a product, rather than a player, by Real's paymasters.
"They say: 'We are going to see how you play for those two years before giving him the option of two more years'," he told Brazilian newspaper O Globo.
"But I am 31-years-old and my trajectory does not allow me to accept that type of thing.
"I am not a product. When I am wearing the shirt, I give my best.
"I believe that there is an end to this product business. Beckham sells a lot but gives a lot, as well as Ronaldo and Zidane.
"But they do use more of the players as a product and say: 'We will do with him what we want'."
Roberto Carlos is aware of the rumours linking him with a switch to Chelsea but refused to confirm he would be linking up with the Premiership runners-up.
He added: "They are speaking a lot about that."
