Have you noticed a striking similarity between the life and the teachings of Socrates and the Life and teachings of Jesus. IN Platos Dialogues, in the Apology, we learn a lot about the life and the teachings of Socrates. Socrates is being accused of doing something he did not do. He is being sentenced to death. Much like Jesus. His accusers contended that he is corrupting the youth and that he is impious. He dneies this, of course. When Critis aska him to levae Athens and escapes, Socrates exclaims that "your should not ne unjust to the unjust" Or It is unjust to do the unjust to the unjust. Jesus said the same thing just in different context. I beleive he said something about love thy enemy as you love thy neighbor.
Also, Socrates dies for something he strongly beleives in. He teaches virtue, mmuch like Jesus teaches. Socrates refused to hold public office because that contradicted his principles--virtues. Socrates never accepted money for his exhortations. He lived in poverty..just like jesus did.
IN my opinion his philosophy had a great influence in the creation of the NEw Testament. Or maybe somewhere along the line JEsus read Platos work....who knows..
