"This is a message to you dear honourables. The decision that you took regarding west Balkan countries in Thessalonica in Greece doesnt convince me at all.
Now, I am an Albanian citizen, quite a regular, low-abiding one that was expecting something else from your conference regarding leaving west balkaners to 'roam' freely in Europe. However, what did we get from you, more restriction in visas and movements of people, as if we talking about were north African refugees asking for asylum and dreaming about becoming martyrs in the heart of Europe.
You claim that you do have some reasons for doing that, one of them is that you want to protect your market from cheap labour that might leave your ever ageing citizens unemployed.
However facts are different for a number of reasons:
1. Any Albanian that wants to travel to European union can do that, with or without your visas. If you do not believe me, take a tour in town centre or building sites and you'll find some of them.
However, whether they travel by paying money to the anti-state or mafia, or paying state taxes, that is something that is up to your foreign policy. As things stand now, they pay more money to traffickers, who can either be an ambassador of your country, a council, or even a bottom-food chain smuggler.
2. There are a number of jobs that your fellow Europeans wouldn't do, like building, cleaning, etc. You know that, we know that. These jobs are mainly done by east European illegals, including Albanians. Now, you need that kind of activity, first of all to keep your economy up and running, and secondly to get taxes back to your budget, so you can pay for pensions and welfares, without bothering about saving any money to provide medical or social cover for these illegal (what is illegal about earning a living by working, that I do not understand).
So dear honourable parliamentary, what do you call that, to me is slavery.
3. The third reasons that come to my mind, is that east Europeans, either religion has never-ever posed any threat to western society, why, because they have no reasons to do that, because at the end of the day they are Europeans, like it or not. So post Sept-11 threat doesnt apply to them.
Therefore dear sir:
-Your foreign policy is one of the reasons why trafficking is a problem in Albania, and you do not want to change that for the above reasons but please, do not try and tell us that you will improve visa restriction when the trafficking and crime in Albania will be put under control.
Even worse, I believe that there might be another reason why you don't want to do that? I think you feel that your identity as west European is seriously threatened by the disappearance of second hand citizens, like east Europeans. You cannot believe that there aren't much left, and those in Balkans want to come out of it.
So dear sir, please stop being racist against us because it doesnt make any sense at all, apart from your burocracy that want to keep us in the present situation in perpetium mode, so they can enjoy high salaries from 'serving' in such a trouble place.
