I wish I could take credit for the Albanian language posts but then sooner or later you would think I am a big fake. I actually translate my English into Albanian using Google Translate. The same story for translating your Albanian into English.

A local DJ (Disc Jokey) phones Mr. Lannum about a cable TV debt pretending to be a bill collector. After this phone confrontation Mr. Lannum became a local folk hero since so many people have had run ins with bill collectors and fantasize about telling them off. To me this is particularly funny because Mr. Lannum reminds me of a lot of my relatives that would take on the Mafia or the Hell's Angels Motorcycle game if they tried to bully and intimidate them.

OK, Mr. Lannum. Show the folks what an ornery Memphis man drinking Jack Daniels Whiskey on the rocks is capable of when pushed around by a bill collector.....

Happy Saint Patrick's Day !!

This is the special day we celebrate all things Irish, one of the celebrated ethnic groups that have made their mark in this country. I don't know how they did it but the Irish brought us this religious holiday to celebrate a Catholic Saint but in reality the celebration is purely secular with marching parades and heavy drinking in the pubs. This is the day you "wear the green" to show solidarity with our Irish neighbors. The color green is derived from the shamrock used to explain the Trinity to the pagan Irish tribes.

Perhaps you can identify with our Celtic friends. They had their own Ottoman Turkish Empire that occupied and tried to rule over them for centuries, the British. Because of extreme poverty and political dissent they had their own particular diaspora around the world. The Irish people feel their national boundaries were made because of political decisions they do not agree with. Albanians know how that feels.

Dita e Shën Patrikut Happy !!

Kjo është dita e veçantë kemi festuar të gjitha gjërat irlandez, një nga grupet më të njohur etnike që kanë lënë gjurmët e tyre në këtë vend. Unë nuk e di se si ata e bëri këtë, por irlandeze na solli këtë festë fetare për të festuar një Shën katolik, por në realitet kremtimin është thjesht laike me marshimi parada dhe të pirët me tepri në baret. Kjo është dita që ju "veshin e gjelbër" për të treguar solidaritet me fqinjët tanë irlandez. Ngjyrën e gjelbër e ka prejardhjen nga tërfil përdoren për të shpjeguar Trinity të fiseve pagane irlandez.

Ndoshta ju mund të identifikohen me miqtë tanë Celtic. Ata kishin vetë Perandoria Osmane e tyre turq, të cilët pushtuan dhe u përpoqën për të sunduar mbi ta për shekuj me radhë, britanik. Për shkak të varfërisë së skajshme dhe mospajtim politik ata kishin vetë diaspora e tyre të veçanta rreth botës. Populli irlandez të ndjehen të kufijve të tyre kombëtare janë bërë për shkak të vendimeve politike ata nuk pajtohen me të. Shqiptarët e di se si ndjehet.

If both of us walked into a pub in Ireland on Sain't Patrick's Day its likely someone would discover we're from a foreign country and buy us a glass of Guinness Beer as a show of hospitality. They would raise their glasses and offer a toast like....
