Hello,

My name is Natalya Yasinskaya and I am a member of the World Student
Organizing Committee for the e-Ducation Without Borders Conference,
which is held every two years in Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Organized specifically for students by students, this prestigious
three day e-learning conference brings together upwards of 500
students from over 70 different nations to discuss how information
technology is affecting and changing education. EWB provides the
opportunity for students in all academic fields to make their voices
heard on various issues concerning the applications of electronic
technology in education. The next conference is scheduled to take
place in February of 2005.

The call for papers is now open. The deadline for submissions is
October, 31, 2004 (or mid November depending on the semester start –
please check the website for details).

Note that the conference offers a number of full scholarships, which
include traveling.

Below you can find some additional information regarding "e-Ducation
Without Borders" conference:

The e-Ducation Without Borders conference is a high profile
international student conference organized by students, for
students. The student organizing committee, the WSOC, is comprised
of approximately 30 students from countries around the globe;
Germany, Bahrain, USA, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Canada, Norway, the
UK, Switzerland and the UAE are among the countries represented.

With this letter the WSOC would like to briefly familiarize you with
EWB; to invite you to expose yourself to the fascinating culture of
the Arab world, the diversity of EWB world-class participants and the
international pool of ideas within the framework of the 2005
conference theme: "E-learning through the eyes of the world:
responsible development and desired role".

The e-Ducation Without Borders is a biennial conference attended by
approximately 400 students from more than 60 countries. The primary
aim of the conference is to increase awareness of the importance of e-
education and inspire students around the globe to life-long
learning. Most importantly, EWB 2005 is about providing an
opportunity for young people around the world to engage in
intercultural dialogue and exchange in one of the most forward-
looking countries of the Middle East: the United Arab Emirates

At EWB2005 students will be eligible to win significant awards for
their papers. In 2003 the prizes included:
- six weeks summer internship with the Global Village of Future
Leaders of Business and Industry at Lehigh University in
Pennsylvania, USA (two awards)
- internship in Paris, France with a corporate sponsor – a
large multinational corporation (two awards)
- laptops for best presenters
- trophies awarded for best poster displays
- other prizes during the process of the conference

The conference, however, is not only a medium for students to present
their contributions. The events at the conference vary from keynote
speeches by major stakeholders in e-ducation and prominent creative
speakers and visionaries, to workshops, to cultural events
highlighting Arab culture such as the Arabian Desert Night, to live
interviews with participants during breaks. Confirmed speaker for
EWB 2005 include John E. Davis, Vice President, Intel Corporation;
David Ignatius, the columnist of Washington Post; Murray Gell-Man,
the Nobel Laureate in Physics; and Terrence H. Matthews, the CEO of
March Networks Corporation.

The targeted delegates for EWB 2005 are the top students from
universities and colleges worldwide. Students whose applications to
attend the conference are accepted will have their costs of
accommodation, meals and transport in-country met by the Higher
Colleges of Technology of the UAE, the hosting institution of the
conference. In the case of outstanding papers, a certain number of
scholarships will be available which will cover all the costs of
attending the conference.

I hope this brief background on the e-Ducation Without Borders
international students conference has captured your interest. More
information can be found on the conference website at www.e-
