Dioskuret dio-dy skuroi shkuar atehere mund te themi dy te shkuarit pra, dy vellezerit qe shkonin mjaft mire me njeri tjetrin , ose dy te shkuarit qe ikin.
Ne Egjiptin e lashte Castor e Pollux njiheshin si 2 yjet me te ndritshem. Kjo shenje paraqitej dhe nga 2 dhi qe lindnin 2 keca.
Te tjere studjues konnfirmojne qe binjaket e kane marre kete emer pasi dielli stacionohet ne kete shenje dy dite me shume se ne shenjat e tjera.

Castor e pollux ishin bijte e Ledes mbretereshes se Spartes gruas se Tindarit , vellezerit e Helenes dhe Klitemnestres.Vetem Pollux ishte i pavdekshem.Kur Castori ngelet i vrare Pollux i trishtuar nga vdekja e te vellait i kerkon Zeusit tia heqe dhuntine e pavdeksise per te qendruar pergjithmone me te vellane. Zeusi i degjon lutjen dhe i vendos ne qiell nen kostelacionin e binjakeve.
