WHO AM I?

Can I alone stop a war half a world away? No!
Stop people dying of hunger or disease? No!
Solve the problems of my own or any other country? No!
Try to make the lives of those around me a little better? Yes!

For better or worse, I am what I am.
I make decisions, and I make mistakes.
I think both rationally and irrationally.
I cry and I laugh, just like everyone else.

I do the best I can, with what I have got.
I pass on to those who ask, the things I have learnt.
I withdraw into myself when I need to be alone.
And sooner or later I will cease to be, like everyone else.

But while I am here, I can try and make that small difference.
Try to assist those who seek out my help.
Try to be there when someone needs a listener.
And try to be there if they need a shoulder to cry on.

I try for perfection, while knowing it is unachievable.
Try to be what others perceive me to be, however unattainable.
Try to please everyone, while realizing the task is impossible.
And try to keep hidden from them all my own troubles within.

I am one of a kind, none like me in the past or future.
Though some may be similar, they will also be different.
Despite their ways and manners seeming parallel to mine.
I am unique, the only one of my kind to tread this earth.

I am no great deity, no better or worse than anyone else.
And by keeping this in mind, I am kept humble.
For to think myself superior is to think a lie.
But believing myself inferior is to destroy my own worth.

Who am I?
I am the only person I can and ever will be.
I am that great enigma.
I am a human being!

I'VE LEARNED........


I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

I've learned that it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.

I've learned that you can get by on charm for about 15 minutes. After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do, but to the best you can do.

I've learned that it's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.

I've learned that you can do something in an instant that will give you a heartache for life.

I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides.

I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
AND WHAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL...I AM STILL.... LEARNING

The Rose or The Rock



I ask myself whether I want to be

As open as a rose fresh and fragrant

or to be hard and cold like a rock

That weathers all that comes.

For an open rose is thrown into

A weathering storm torn and shredded it shall be.

While a rock can be hit by lightning,

Rolled by thunder, blown by wind, and poured upon

Yet it dries and seems to be unharmed.

Some say you can't be charmed?

While others are only harmed.

For I do not know any answers

I only have the questions in my mind

Those of which swirl like the sand

In the middle of the Sahara Desert.

For I do not know which I favor

The rose or the rock.

DUSTING

"A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you"
on the furniture."

I can't tell you how many countless hours that I have spent
CLEANING! I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect - "in case someone came over". Then I realized one day that no one came over; they were all out living life and having fun!

Now, when people visit, I find no need to explain the "condition"
of my home. They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun. If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.

Life is short. Enjoy it!

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better, to paint a picture or
write a letter, bake a cake or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time, with rivers to swim
and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there with the sun in your
eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not
kind. And when you go - and go you must - you yourself, will make more dust!

Do you remember young love,
With that sensational spark,
That one shining light,
In a world that's so dark?

That first searing kiss,
So gentle and sweet,
The smell of their breath,
As your heart skips a beat?

Laughing and talking,
Like there was no end,
Knowing you've found,
Your one true friend?

Those precious moments,
Of a first embrace,
A warm, tender touch,
That traces your face?

Do you remember young love,
Gripping your heart?
Thinking you'll die,
If you're ever apart?

Sharing your soul,
And the deepest affection,
Knowing that love,
Is your only protection?

As it flip-flops your stomach,
And rattles your knees,
When everything's new,
And so eager to please?

Holding hands as you walk,
By the pale moon light,
Remember making love,
All through the night?

I found that young love,
Only once in my life,
And now that we're old,
I'm still that young wife.

Just the touch of his hand,
Or the smell of his smell,
And I remember young love,
I remember it well!

Precious Memories

You can't buy precious memories
With silver or gold,
They come to us without a price
As the years of life unfold.

I've longed for many things in life,
Some with hidden thorns of pain.
Knowing what was best for me,
God sent both sunshine and rain.


Hard times teach us to appreciate
Good times when they come along,
If all of life was fun and pleasure,
How could we ever grow strong?

God in his infinite wisdom
Has given me many good years,
Taught me to suffer with others,
To feel their sorrows and tears.

So if you want precious memories
As the years of life unfold,
Learn how to love one another,
Its worth more than silver or gold.

A Time To Believe


To believe is to know that every day
is a new beginning.
It is to trust that miracles happen,
and dreams really do come true.


To believe is to see angels dancing among the clouds
to know the wonder of a stardust sky
and the wisdom of the man in the moon.



To believe is to know the value of a nurturing heart,
the innocence of a child's eyes
and the beauty of an aging hand,
for it is through their teachings we learn to love.

To believe is to find the strength
and courage that lies within us when it is time
to pick up the pieces and begin again.

that life is a gift
and this is our time to cherish it.

are just waiting to happen,

Living on Earth is expensive,
but it does include a free trip
around the sun every year.

Birthdays are good for you;
the more you have,
the longer you live.

How long a minute is depends
on what side of the bathroom
door you're on.

Ever notice that the people who
are late are often much jollier
than the people who have to
wait for them?

If ignorance is bliss, why aren't
more people happy?

Most of us go to our grave with
our music still inside of us.

If Walmart is lowering prices
every day, how come nothing
is free yet?

You may be only one person
in the world, but you may also
be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much
fun to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over;
smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp,
some are pretty,
some are dull,
some have weird names,
and all are different colors....
but they all have to learn to live
in the same box.

Everything should be made as
simple as possible,
but no simpler.

A truly happy person is one
who can enjoy the scenery
on a detour.

Happiness comes through
doors you didn't even know
you left open.
