Inter Channel exclusive with José Mourinho

MILAN - José Mourinho returned from China last night after inspecting pitch and training facilities in Beijing for the 2009 Italian Super Cup match against Lazio. The Inter coach stopped by at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti this morning and spoke briefly to Inter Channel before leaving for his summer holidays.
Mourinho, how was your visit to Beijing, where the 2009 Italian Super Cup will be played?
"It went very well. The main objective for us, Lazio and the Lega Calcio was to play in the stadium of the Olympics. When we arrived we worked a lot to make things go well. It would have been a pity to go to Beijing and not play in that stadium. It's right to play the (Super Cup) final there. What I liked most was that we worked very well with Lazio. We kept saying to each other that we want to win the trophy, but before the match we wanted to work well and work together. We did a positive work, it's all very well organised: the match, the training bases, the hotel, the security... Everything is okay. Now it's up to the Lega Calcio, with their agronomist, who is a fantastic person, to return and check the work in progress because we want a nice pitch so it can be a nice final. The fans in Beijing are fantastic. It's a great emotion for them, they are expecting a great final like the ones they see on television. There are all the ingredients to make this a special Super Cup, different from those that are usually played in Italy."
First the United States, and then China. The summer of 2009 will see José Mourinho's Inter presented to the world...
"The only problem of this year's summer will be the jet-lag because first we will be six hours behind Italy and then we will be six hours in front. But at the same time it will be a great motivation for the club and the players to do pre-season training in America and play against Chelsea and Milan. Yes, there will be friendly matches, preparation matches, but they must always give us motivations. Then we will go to China where there is a population of Interisti, especially in Beijing. So many Nerazzurri fans live there. It will be a great opportunity for the club and a great motivation for all of us. In general there won't be any problems. I can only see and imagine positive things."
What does Mourinho think about the transfer market?
"My tranquillity is the tranquillity of someone who knows football well. I know the transfer market, I know this market where the agents work very very hard, even to do impossible things, or to make the world understand that an impossible thing is possible. They work a lot in this period, but not everything they say is done in the end. With Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo we can say that Real Madrid are today the kings of the transfer market; it's the team with the biggest impact. Inter, though, are doing their job. I continue to think that Ibrahimovic will remain an Inter player. This is my conviction. No one has told me anything, it's quite simply my own personal belief. And I think that our team will be better because Milito and Thiago Motta are two players who can do important things. It's no secret that we are working on one or two players to improve the team even more."
You weren't able to see Davide Santon's Italy debut, but Il Bambino received many compliments.
"I didn't see it, but I spoke with him before, maybe two days before his debut. What is happening to him is a logical consequence. A national team coach thinks to the future and he realises that he's a player for the national team, like I realised before that he was a player for Inter. It's a great opportunity for his professional development. It's good for us if Davide plays for the national team, it's good for the national team if Davide plays for a club like Inter. Mario Balotelli will go in the same direction and we want even more. Obi and Krhin were in the Primavera. With Belec, they will be in the first team this summer and there will be more young Italians in the first team in the future. Destro and other boys who are now in the Allievi will play for the Primavera next year and then they will come with us. This is the way forward for us."
