Taken is a 2008 action thriller film starring Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen, and Maggie Grace. It is based on a script by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen and was directed by Pierre Morel. Neeson plays a former Central Intelligence Agency paramilitary operative who sets about tracking down his teenage daughter after she is kidnapped by slave traders while traveling in Europe



Production
The film was produced by Luc Besson's Europacorp.[2] It was filmed mostly in Paris with about the first 30 minutes taking place in Los Angeles. Recognizable points in the movie are Staples Center, and Los Angeles International Airport in L.A and the Eiffel Tower and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

your research does not say much weather it is based on a true story or not!!! the majority of the movie is based on true story angel.

Actually it is. I have a friend who works for a government agency and knows the person who the story is based on. I don't know the name of the man but apparently his story closely resembles that of the movie. The only difference is that the real life story took place in southeast Asia instead of Europe and his daughter was killed while the friend lives whereas the opposite happens in the film.
His name is William G. Hillar. He is a retired Colonel of the U.S. Army Special Forces
