PVD has put out 2 CD's in the last calandar year. The brand new "Reflections" which is a compilation of all newly produced material, and "Global" which is both a "greatest hits" CD and a stunning DVD.
Global is a revealing travelogue, from the Love Parade in Berlin to the Gatecrasher festival in the U.K. It is an uplifting testament to the power of electronic music as a common language among cultures. Eric Schnall, Billboard
The Global DVD casts a DJ's life as a non-stop commute between cultures. C. Bottomley, VH1.com
GLOBAL--the DVD by artist, producer and composer offers a powerful audio-visual overview of the 10-year career of a modern music pioneer. Due in stores July 29 on MUTE in a DVD Digipak configuration with a bonus audio CD, Global is a multimedia collection of continuous music, reworked dance hits, music videos, tour footage, film trailers, biographical interviews and more.
Romantic, futuristic, dreamlike and continentally stylish, it showcases an ever-evolving "movie" combining clips from previously-released music videos with impressionistic travel footage (filmed by a touring camera crew) that shows he is sharing his globetrotting adventures with fans. The film is complemented by a continuous score comprised of 13 mixed hits, including "We Are Alive," "Tell Me Why Seven Ways," For An Angel, and others. Also featured are two new tracks, "Animacion" and "My World" (from the Mexican film Zurdo which Van Dykscored). Recorded in 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound, the Global DVD captures the playful, hedonistic frenzy of VAN DYK's international club performances while making a compelling artistic statement.
Featuring footage shot in Berlin, San Francisco, New York, Miami, Mexico City, London, Tokyo, Ibiza and Bangkok, Global is a multi-faceted and energetic document of the international club and street culture. The DVD chronicles VAN DYK's exploits at Germany's Love Parade, Christoper Street Day and Gatecrasher celebrations, among other events. All in all, Global features nearly 120 minutes of trance-inducing music and visuals.
Make sure to catch Paul Van Dyk while he's on tour in support of these two progressive releases.
