ALBANIA: SARANDA: JETS ATTACK VILLIAGE
Natural Sound
Jets attacked a town outside the Albanian port city of Saranda on Wednesday, and local authorities said four protesters were hurt in a clash with army troops.
The attack came despite a Defence Ministry statement issued earlier in the day which denied the government had ordered jets to bomb protesters in the south of the country.
An Associated Press photographer saw Chinese-made MiG-15 warplanes drop a bomb next to two houses in the village of Livena, near Saranda, and the smoke from two more bombs.
In Krania, 100 kilometres (70 miles) east of Saranda, rebels showed off their arms, including a tank and grenades.
The smoke from MiG attacks could be seen in the hills.
