Cool, or Freaky? Google Glasses Could Give You ‘Augmented Reality’ Vision

Just when you thought one reality was enough … get ready for “extra” reality. The New York Times reported today that Google – who won’t confirm the story – is preparing to release a pair of glasses that would stream information in real time … right to your eyeballs.

According to the article, the glasses would look similar to a pair of Oakleys, but would have a tiny screen that would display an overlay of information on top of whatever you’re looking at. For example, glance at a restaurant and immediately see a pop-up of a review for that specific restaurant.

The glasses will reportedly be equipped with a camera, GPS, and movement sensors, and the Times says Google is expected to sell them later this year for about the price of a smart phone. Who knew the future would be so affordable?!

“This sounds freaky, but it sounds pretty darn cool,” admitted FoxNews.com’s tech editor Jeremy Kaplan. “They call it augmented reality, the concept is you’re just getting extra reality in addition to the reality you’re already looking at.”
