I personally don't have the power to influence my Congressman and Senators like a large corporation that pays a Washington lobbyist millions of dollars to whisper in the ear of our lawmakers. I know this. We know this. Democracy is overrated ? Perhaps but NOT the IDEAL of democracy. Besides what would you propose to replace democracy with, another Xoxha . Hell, man, Hitler had his good points according to a lot of Germans. Enver Boy was a draconian dictator and disciple of one the great mass murdering monsters of the 20th century,Joseph Stalin. How many poets, writers and political opponents did Dictator Xoxha dispose of over the years ? Apologize for breaking balls about Enver Hoxha. No way, baby ! He and his years of rule were a black hole.

As far as the political reality of today's Albania I know not. This would be an ideal place to learn about it.

Quite a few but comparing now and then we were culturally better. The tradition and our culture was on great display, now the people are like westernized, have lost (not entirely but to an extent yes) connection to what was on 20some years ago. The language has been bastardized and so on. In this grounds alone I would welcome another Hoxha with open arms (hopefully he doesn’t kill me later on ).
