This week Andrew Luck has run to the front of the pack with his stellar play against the Green Bay Packers. For the third time this year Luck drove the Indianapolis Cots to a go ahead touchdown with less than a minute on the clock. This dude is going to be a force in the NFL
The San Francisco 49ers already look like Super Bowl contenders. They are exceptional in their offensive line, running backs, receivers, defensive line, linebackers and secondary. Their quarterback, Alex Smith, manages the team like a corporation CEO. I can't recall noticeing a team this early in the season exhibiting its obvious fire power and dominance.
The Atlanta Falcons are 5-0 for the first time in franchise history. Matt Ryan is playing lights out while both the Falcon offense and defense are turning heads. They appear to be the real deal and a possible opponent for San Francisco in the NFC Championship game.
The New Orleans Saints are imploding due to the scandal involving their Defensive Coordinator putting contracts on opposing quarterbacks and handing out bonus money to defensive players responsible for knocking out or injuring opponents especially quarterbacks. The controversy put their Defensive Coordinator out of football and imposed a one year suspension on their head coach, Sean Payton.
Eli Manning and the New York Giants seem to be picking up where they left off from their Super Bowl victory. Eli Manning is arguably having his best year and looking like a NFL MVP.
So San Francisco, Atlanta and New York look like the best teams in the NFC
For the first five weeks the AFC has belonged to undefeated Houston Texans. They are a young, talented and well balanced on offense and defense. They may just be the new force in the NFL.
The Baltimore Ravens have a 4-1 record but many of their games have been close. Is Joe Flacco a valid Super Bowl quarterback. That is the question
After a slow start Tom Brady and the New England Patriots seem to be back in the groove. Their young defense appears to have jelled and is becoming more of a factor in the team's success.
I look for this to be another banner year for the NFL as teams jockey to win their Holy Grail, the Super Bowl.
